The Aqua-net Pool Net FAQ's
How much weight can the aqua-net hold?
The Aqua-Net is designed to support the weight of two adults and a child. This is to allow for a rescue should it be required.
Will my child get stuck in the net?
The open mesh design prevents a child from being able to move forward towards the centre of the pool. Should they fall onto the net, they get stuck at the edge of the pool. It is an unpleasant situation and will result in the child crying, which will alert others to the situation.
There have been 0 reported drownings throughout our company history
Is there any technical info I should know?
The Aqua-Net swimming pool safety net was designed and introduced to the world in 1972. Used by concerned parents for over 40 years there have been ZERO reported drownings on an installed Aqua-Net to date.
The Aqua-Net is a simple system that can easily be fitted and removed by an adult. Manufactured from UV treated polyethylene braid, the Aqua-Net has a breaking strain in excess of 150 kg. The pre-shrunk, machine manufactured 80mm mesh netting adheres to international safety net standards.
Designed to support a crawling baby off the water at the edge of the pool, the 80mm mesh is large enough to inhibit movement on the net, but small enough not to allow a child's head through the net.
A crawling baby falling onto the Aqua-Net will be supported off the water. Arms and legs will go through the net, preventing further movement away from the edge of the pool. It will be an unpleasant experience, which will result in the child crying thus alerting parents or a carer to the situation.
As children grow and become heavier, they may come in contact with the water should they fall onto the net. However, an older child will be able to push themselves up and away from the water, cry and alert a person's attention.
It is unlikely that there will ever be an occasion when a child is left unsupervised for any length of time. The Aqua-Net provides the extra minutes needed between a child wandering off on their own and the moment that they are missed.
A child cannot lift up or crawl under an Aqua-Net. The unique Central Tension System is made up of 11 pulleys built into the net.
A central float is standard. The float keeps the net at a constant height above the water, even if the water level rises. The float also supports the net toward the center of the pool. Custom fitted to any shape or size pool, pond or spa. Available in Blue or Black

What are the components?
Netting
The UV treated polyethylene braid is made from high density virgin polymer. It is machine manufactured, square 80mm mesh using a 3,5mm braid.
Never leave the net off the pool lying in the sun for any extended period of time. It is possible for the netting to shrink if exposed to temperature extremes. With a breaking strain in excess of 150kg per strand the Aqua-Net will easily support the weight of a child or even an adult. Available in Blue or Black.
Anchor Plates
The Aqua-Net is fitted using fully adjustable, self locking anchor plates. Manufactured from either stainless steel or glass-filled nylon. The glass filled nylon anchors are available in four different colours - terracotta, beige, grey and black.
The anchor plate is designed so that children cannot stub their toes or hurt their feet. The anchor plate will not clog with dirt or dust. A superior anchor system to the simple "hole in the paving method", it allows for the hooks to be locked in place and makes it impossible for a small child to remove the anchors when central tension system is tensioned. Designed to last the lifespan of the net (6-8 years).
Anchoring System
Anchoring system used where rocks or vertical walls are present. Manufactured from stainless steel with a brass anchor.
Pool Net Float
Constructed from polyethylene. The float is designed to keep the net at a constant height above the water. Supports the net towards the center of the pool.
Net Roller
For easy fitting and removing of the Aqua-Net. Keeps the net neat and tidy and ready for use. Prevents the net becoming entangled. Lightweight and portable. It is not a permanent fixture.
Is the net easy to use?
The central tension system allows for the net to be easily fitted and removed, in less than 5 minutes by one adult, the Aqua-Net is used daily throughout South Africa and beyond.
Is the Aqua-net SABS approved?
The Aqua-Net adheres to SABS standard SANS 10134 : 2018 – Safety of private swimming pools.
This is a code a practice which lays down responsibilities, principles, methods, and planning techniques for the protection of children from the hazards of swimming pools situated on private premises, and makes recommendations for the design and installation of typical protective devices that are intended to prevent a child from gaining access to a swimming pool.
Is maintenance required?
The Aqua-Net requires little regular maintenance. There are however some important things to remember
Never leave the net off the pool lying in the sun for any extended period of time. It is possible for the netting to shrink if exposed to temperature extremes.
Dogs may chew the net to drink water. Should this happen it is possible to repair the net depending on the extent of the damage. Contact your nearest branch for assistance in this regard. A Dog repellent spray is available to assist in discouraging dogs from chewing the net.
Glass filled nylon anchor plates can wear/degrade over time. Any plate that shows signs of wear should be replaced to ensure the ongoing safety of the Aqua-Net.
Stainless steel anchors can bend at the keyhole slots. Tap the keyhole slot back into position, if wear is apparent.
The float should not be dropped or thrown as it can crack. Should the float become filled with water due to rain, it is advisable to allow the water to drain through the hole in the top of the float before refitting the float in the net.
The Aqua-Net is resistant to chlorine so it is fine to add chlorine by throwing it through the net. It is best, however, to add chemicals such as chlorine and specifically pool acid at the weir. Should the net need to be removed for an extended time period, wash it down with fresh water, fold it neatly and store out of direct sunlight in a cool environment, free from any rodents.

Leaf Catcha FAQ's
Why the leaf-catcha?
It is a true multi-functional pool cover.
The Leaf cover prevents leaves and debris from entering the pool, reduces evaporation and is pet and child friendly. It has a minimum lifespan of 10 years.
With a breaking strain in the region of 60 kg, the material will not tear readily if pierced, due to the lock stitch used in the knitting process.
Can the cover be fitted to my pool?
Absolutley. The Leaf Catcha pool cover is custom fitted to the swimming pool, flush with the paving. A safety net is used during the initial fitment process to enable a template of the pool to be taken. The material is then returned to the factory for stitching where a reinforced webbing edge is stitched around the perimeter of the cover. Brass eyelets are fitted into the webbing surround and the cover is returned to site and fitted to the swimming pool using an anchor plate system.
What are the components?
Netting
It is made from UV treated knitted shade cloth material available in either Blue or Black in 55%, 80% or 95% density. Manufactured from monofilament polyethylene.

Why the 5 year guarantee?
As a company with a proud track record and history, we stand behind our products. We use the best materials available to manufacture the Leaf Catcha and are confident that the usable lifespan will far exceed the 10 year lifespan
Is there any technical info I should know?
The Leaf Catcha porous swimming pool cover was introduced by Aqua-Net in the early 80's. Since then it proved to be a very popular product. It offers the pool owner a means to reduce swimming pool maintenance and running costs while keeping the pool free of leaves and debris. Manufactured from shade cloth, the cover has an expected lifespan in excess of 10 years.
The Leaf Catcha is constructed from 55%, 80% or 95% density UV treated shade cloth available in blue or black. The 55% density is used as it is easily stretched tightly over a pool and the material does not rest on the water when the cover is fitted on the pool. The 80% density will keep smaller debris out and save more on evaporation than the 55% - only available for smaller
It is manufactured using monofilament polyethylene strands. These strands are knitted into a material which is strong and hard wearing. With a breaking strain in the region of 60kg, the material will not tear readily if pierced, due to the lock stitch used in the knitting process.
The fitted cover does not rest on the water when in position. Leaves and debris can blow off the surface of the cover or be brushed away. The material is porous so rainwater does not collect on top of the cover when it rains. The porous nature of the material allows some dust through, but this is easily taken care of by the pool cleaner.
The Leaf Catcha will reduce evaporation by up to 80%. The material acts as a physical barrier over the pool surface area. UV light exposure of the swimming pool water is reduced thus reducing evaporation. Further to this, wind/airflow is greatly reduced by the presence of the cover, again assisting in evaporation savings.
It is tensioned across the pool and will support a small child or animal off the water at the edge of the pool. Should a child or animal walk/crawl onto the cover, the material will stretch as they move toward the center of the pool and may come into contact with the water. This could pose a potential drowning risk for a crawling baby, and as such it is not recommended that the Leaf Catcha is used as a safety device.
This net is the recommended animal safety option for smaller pets (max 15Kg). Large animals will cause the cover to stretch and also wear and possibly tear where the cover is in contact with the paving surround.
It's fitted and removed using a hand puller. The Leaf Catcha is lightweight and easily operated by one person. The cover floats in water. Custom fitted to any shape or size pool or spa.
Available in Blue or Black, 55%, 80% or 95% density material. A storage roller is available as an optional extra. 3 years guarantee including one free maintenance visit to the value of R890 (includes repairs to any anchor plates if/when necessary)
What are the different densities?
The Leaf Catcha is constructed from 55%, 80% or 95% density UV treated shade cloth.
The 55% density is used as it is easily stretched tightly over a pool and the material does not rest on the water when the cover is fitted on the pool.
The 80% or 95% density will keep smaller debris out and save more on evaporation than the 55% density – only available for smaller pools.
Can my pets walk on the cover?
The Leaf Catcha is tensioned across the pool and will support a small child or animal off the water at the edge of the pool.
Should a child or animal walk/crawl onto the cover, the material will stretch as they move toward the center of the pool and may come into contact with the water. This could pose a potential drowning risk for a crawling baby, and as such it is not recommended that the Leaf Catcha is used as a safety device.
What maintenance is needed?
The Leaf Catcha swimming pool cover does not require regular maintenance. There are however some important things to remember
Never leave the cover off the pool in the sun for extended periods of time.
Dogs may chew the cover to drink water. Should this happen it is possible to repair/patch the cover/webbing depending on the extent of the damage. A Dog repellent spray is available to assist in discouraging dogs from chewing the cover. Dogs / children running /playing on the cover will cause it to chafe on the pool coping. It is best to discourage children or animals from walking on the Leaf Catcha to minimise potential strectching / wear.
Glass filled nylon anchor plates can wear over time. Any plate that shows signs of wear should be replaced to ensure the on-going effectiveness of the cover. Stainless steel anchors can bend at the keyhole slots. Tap the keyhole slot back into position, if "wear" is apparent
Aqua Guard Solid Cover FAQ's

A crawling baby falling onto the Aqua-Guard will be supported off the water, but there is a risk of drowning in any water which may have collected on top of the cover. The cover will support the weight of an adult. It is NOT recommended as a safety cover.
Is this cover safe for children?
It is NOT recommended as a safety cover. The cover is not under tension and as such it is possible for a child to crawl under or unhook the cover. The cover will also collect rain water, forming a pool of water which can pose a potential drowning hazard. A crawling baby falling onto the Aqua-Guard will be supported off the water, but there is a risk of drowning in any water which may have collected on top of the cover.
What are the components?
Anchor Plates
The Aqua-Guard is fitted using fully adjustable self-locking anchor plates. They are manufactured from either stainless steel or glass-filled nylon. Glass filled nylon anchors are available in four different colours, terracotta, beige, grey and black.
The anchor plate is designed so that children cannot stub their toes or hurt their feet. Is there technical info I should know?
The Aqua-Guard Solid PVC cover was introduced by Aqua-Net in 1994. The Aqua-Guard is a product which offers the user a number of benefits. Custom fitted to the pool, it stops 99% evaporation, enables the user to stop chlorinating the pool for long periods of time and allows for a drastic reduction in filtration time. The Aqua-Guard will also prevent leaves, debris and dust from entering the pool. It is the perfect solution to minimize maintenance costs and to save on chlorine, water and electricity. It is however not recommended as a safety cover.
The 600gram per square meter PVC material is durable and not prone to scuffing.
It totally blocks out any sunlight from entering the pool. This prevents algae growth and allows for the reduction of chlorination and filtration.
The Aqua-Guard is fitted, resting on the water and then secured to the paving surround. The majority of the material is lower than the surrounding paving. Due to the water supporting the material, it is possible for an adult to walk or stand on the cover.
It is NOT recommended as a safety cover. The cover is not under tension and as such it is possible for a child to crawl under or unhook the cover. The cover will also collect rainwater, forming a pool of water that can pose a potential drowning hazard. A crawling baby falling onto the Aqua-Guard will be supported off the water, but there is a risk of drowning in any water which may have collected on top of the cover.
The material's edge is reinforced with 100mm woven webbing and two brass eyelets at each anchoring point. A 6mm polyethylene rope is fed through the eyelets around the cover in order to secure the cover to the anchors.
The rope allows for adjustment of the cover to accommodate any water level fluctuations.
NB: It is very important that the Aqua-Guard is always fitted touching the water. Failure to do so will result in the cover tearing or pulling up the paving in the event of water collecting on top of the cover.
When fitted, the Aqua-Guard prevents any sunlight from entering the pool. Algae needs sunlight to grow. As a result, it is possible to reduce chlorinating the pool to the barest minimum or to even stop altogether. This should not be undertaken permanently and it is important to monitor general pool water conditions regularly. Test the pool water and correct chemical requirements accordingly before entering or closing the pool.
It is possible to turn off the pool pump completely once the cover is fitted. Upon removal, the pool water will still be clear and usable. It is however recommended to run the pool pump for a minimum of one hour a day, to ensure that water remains circulating in the pool and filtration system.
If a Salt water chlorinator is in use, it is best to turn the chlorinator off when the Aqua-Guard is on the pool. Failure to do so will see chlorine levels concentrating in the pool, which will affect the chemical balance of the pool water and adversely affect the lifespan of the Aqua-Guard.
The expected lifespan of the cover is 5 to 6 years depending on usage during the course of any given year. Exposure to UV and chemicals result in the PVC material degrading over time.
Custom fitted to any shape or size pool or spa. Available in Blue or Black. 3 year guarantee.
Is the Aqua-Guard easy to use?
The cover needs to be fitted and removed by 2 adults.
What is THE AQUA-GUARD made from?
It is manufactured from PVC material and available in blue, dove grey, battleship grey, new beige and dark earth.
What is the maintenance?
The Aqua-Guard does not require regular maintenance. There are however some important things to remember:
Never leave the cover off the pool in the sun for extended periods of time.
Dogs may chew the cover to drink water. Should this happen it is possible to repair the cover/webbing depending on the extent of the damage. A Dog repellent spray is available to assist in discouraging dogs from chewing the cover. Dogs/children running / playing on the cover may cause it to chafe on the pool coping. It is also possible that dog claws may puncture the material. Children / animals should not be allowed on the cover.
Water collecting on the cover should be removed especially if young children are present as the water poses a drowning risk. When the cover is in place, turn off the salt chlorinator if one is in use. Do not continue with normal chlorination of the water. If over chlorination occurs, remove the cover and leave off the pool for 3 - 4 days or until chlorine levels stabilise to 2-3ppm.
Glass filled nylon anchor plates can wear over time. Any plate that shows signs of wear should be replaced to ensure the ongoing effectiveness of the cover. Stainless steel anchors can bend at the keyhole slots. Tap the keyhole slot back into position, if "wear" is apparent.
Rainwater collecting on the pool should be removed so that leaves and debris collecting on the cover do not become waterlogged and to minimise any potential drowning hazard. In order to remove the rainwater, either stand on the cover, forming a well point, where the water will collect. Making use of a bucket, scoop excess water off the cover.
Alternatively, fit the pool cleaner hose into the hose socket, through the top of the weir. Set the pool pump to waste. Stand on the cover creating a well point and then use the hose to drain excess water off the cover. Be careful not to allow too much air into the pump/filter as this will cause air pockets and reduce suction. It will not be possible to remove every drop of water. Any remaining water will generally evaporate or can be mopped up.
